Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The publication of an article in Al Mizan Law Review constitutes an essential contribution to the development of a credible and respected body of scholarly knowledge. It reflects the quality of the work conducted by authors and the institutions supporting them. As a peer-reviewed journal, Al Mizan Law Review upholds and promotes the integrity of the scientific method.
It is therefore imperative to establish and adhere to standards of ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is developed based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Allegations of Research Misconduct
Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to, fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, and plagiarism in the conduct, reporting, or review of research. When such misconduct is identified, the Editors bear the responsibility to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the scholarly record.
In cases of suspected misconduct, the Editors and Editorial Board of Al Mizan Law Review will follow COPE guidelines to investigate and resolve the issue fairly and transparently. Manuscripts found to contain misconduct will be rejected. If misconduct is identified after publication, the journal will issue appropriate corrections or retractions, which will be clearly linked to the original article.
The investigation process begins with an assessment of the validity of the allegation and whether it meets the criteria of research misconduct. Consideration will also be given to any potential conflicts of interest among those raising the allegation.
If credible concerns arise, the corresponding author will be contacted and requested to provide a detailed explanation on behalf of all co-authors. Based on the response, further review may involve independent experts. Where misconduct is unlikely, clarifications or corrections may be published. However, confirmed cases may result in formal corrections, retractions, or retractions with replacement.
Institutions are expected to conduct thorough investigations when necessary. Authors, editors, and institutions share responsibility for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the academic record. Through appropriate responses to ethical concerns, Al Mizan Law Review remains committed to upholding scholarly integrity.
