Al Mizan Law Review Journal is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually in June and December. Al Mizan Law Review Journal provides an international, peer-reviewed scholarly platform dedicated to the advancement and critical development of Islamic legal studies within both classical and contemporary contexts. The journal seeks to promote rigorous academic inquiry, interdisciplinary engagement, and the integration of theory and practice in the field of Islamic law.

The journal welcomes original, high-quality research articles that employ normative-doctrinal, empirical, and socio-legal approaches. It encourages contributions that not only examine legal texts and doctrines but also explore the lived realities, institutional practices, and societal implications of Islamic law across diverse settings.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  1. Constitutional Law and Administrative Law, particularly in relation to the role and accommodation of Islamic law within state legal systems.
  2. Human Rights and Religious Freedom, including critical debates on universality, cultural relativism, and the position of Islamic legal norms in global human rights discourse.
  3. Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh), covering both classical schools and contemporary developments in substantive legal rulings.
  4. Islamic Legal Theory (Ushul al-Fiqh), including methodological innovations, epistemological inquiries, and hermeneutical approaches.
  5. Law in the Modern Muslim World, encompassing legislation, codification, statutory reforms, regulatory frameworks, legal professions, and institutional dynamics.
  6. Islamic Astronomy (Ilmu Falak), particularly its application in legal determinations such as prayer times, qibla direction, the Islamic calendar,  Lunar and Solar Eclipses and includes articles on the scientific research field of Islamic astronomy observatory and others.
  7. Comparative Law, Law and Religion, and Law and Society, with a specific emphasis on the interaction between Islamic law and other legal traditions, as well as its socio-cultural contexts.
  8. Community Service in Islamic Legal Studies (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat), which includes scholarly works that document, analyze, and theorize community-engaged legal practices. This covers initiatives such as legal literacy programs, mediation and dispute resolution in Muslim communities, sharia-based legal assistance, empowerment of marginalized groups, and the application of Islamic legal principles in addressing contemporary societal challenges. The journal particularly values contributions that bridge academic scholarship with practical community impact, demonstrating how Islamic law operates as a transformative tool for social justice, welfare, and sustainable development.

Through this scope, Al Mizan Law Review aims to contribute significantly to scholarly discourse and the development of Islamic legal thought in both national and global contexts.

Description: Participation in the peer-review process is essential to the journal's success and reputation. Reviewers, along with the editors, determine which work is of quality and significance. Due to extensive readership, the research and scholarship presented will ultimately have an impact on literacy in classrooms, nationally and internationally. Editor's & Reviewer's name will be listed on the journal's webpage.

Requirements
a). possess a Master or doctoral degree in the specific subject related closely to the journal;
b). hold a job at a university or academic organization in a teaching or research position;
c). be fluent in academic and professional English;
d). have a strong interest in scholarly journals;
e). Work quickly and accurately to tight deadlines.
